Swedish iFoodbag signs global production agreement with Mondi to enable easy online shopping for temperature-controlled goods.

iFoodbag has signed a global production agreement with Mondi. As an integrated supplier, Mondi can offer support and experience along the entire production and supply chain of the iFoodbag. This innovative product, which will transform online grocery shopping, will now be available globally.

iFoodbag - we simplify life

Online shopping and e-commerce are growing steadily worldwide. However, at present, shopping online for chilled or frozen goods is not as easy as shopping online for goods such as shoes, furniture or electronics. For customers it would be very beneficial to be able to shop conveniently online for all types of groceries, including chilled and frozen products, and have them delivered fresh, not only in large cities but wherever in the world they are. Until now, this has not always been feasible, but iFoodbag offers now a smart solution to the logistical challenges of temperature-controlled goods.

The iFoodbag a newly invented product developed by Swedish start-up iFoodbag, is a smart solution to those challenges and will transform online grocery shopping globally. Ordering frozen or chilled products from your favourite online store will now be far more viable thanks to the innovative iFoodbag.

The iFoodbag, for which several patents are pending, is made from a revolutionary paper-based composite material. The result is a temperature-controlled packaging solution that can protect chilled and frozen goods for up to 24 hours, subject to certain temperature constraints and circumstances. Recent tests conducted, documented and verified by leading research institute Innventia have proven the iFoodbag's unique benefits and its performance in keeping goods, such as foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals, chilled or frozen.

iFoodbag - customer focus with passion for performance

This innovative packaging product will be a genuine game-changer, as it will optimise and simplify the transport chain for temperature-controlled goods in new ways. Food retailers who until now have struggled to offer an efficient logistical set-up for temperature-controlled home deliveries will be able to pack frozen and chilled goods in the iFoodbag and ship them in conventional vehicles instead of refrigerated trucks. This will be added-value for online retailers as logistics and distribution costs will fall significantly.

"We have thoroughly assessed several production partners during the last year to find a competent and forward-thinking company that will market this amazing product with us. We are now happy to have signed an exclusive agreement with Mondi Industrial Bags. They are a leader within their industry, with production facilities all over the globe, while we have the leading and unrivalled technology for temperature-controlled goods. So we are a perfect match. This is a prerequisite for our global expansion roll-out during 2016," says iFoodbag's founder and CEO Karl Fallgren.

"We are excited about this new product developed by iFoodbag," says Claudio Fedalto, Deputy COO and Sales & Marketing Director of Mondi Industrial Bags. "We strongly believe in the innovative strength of the iFoodbag's idea and the many benefits it will bring to retailers and consumers," he continues. "Already in the past we have driven innovation for our customers, and the iFoodbag concept is a perfect fit with our innovation culture. We will support iFoodbag with our expertise in bag production, our packaging know-how and our strong and global production footprint."
