Source Labels transforms BLOCKHEAD's labelling with Utroque

4 October 2018

Leading label manufacturer, Source Labels, has utilised its revolutionary Utroque system to slash functional confectionery brand BLOCKHEAD’s label backing requirements in half.

Source Labels’ Utroque double-sided labelling system is the most significant breakthrough in label manufacture for half a century, reducing release liner consumption by 50% and material weight by 40%. A revolution in eco-friendly printing, the technology uses both sides of the release liner, offering a simple yet effective solution that delivers huge benefits in terms of both environmental and cost reduction.

Miranda Best, operations manager at BLOCKHEAD, said: “We have been absolutely amazed by the sheer scale of benefits we have experienced as a result of converting our labelling to Utroque. Not only have we seen a significant cost and waste reduction, but also improvements in functionality.

“It’s hard to visualise the amount of support liner used in product labelling until you see it all packed up and ready for disposal, and to save 50% is just fantastic. We have also benefitted from extra efficiencies in stock movements and the number of reels we need to stock. Switching to Utroque has been a remarkable success for our business, and we are totally elated with the results.”

BLOCKHEAD is an innovative confectionery company stocked in Morrisons, WHSmith, Ocado and many other retailers. Using cold pressed gum technology, it allows active ingredients to be delivered using chewing gum to provide functional benefits - fast.

Tim Lowe, Source Labels managing director, added: “It is fantastic to see the wide range of benefits BLOCKHEAD has experienced by switching to Utroque. The technology can be added to existing labelling lines, enabling hassle-free implementation and offering a compelling win-win for companies looking to make efficiency and cost savings while embracing green practices and shrinking their carbon footprint.”
