Sheeter has ‘infinite length adjustment’

12 July 2010

Edale has launched a fully servo driven sheet cutter claimed to be ‘infinitely adjustable’. The VLS-650 machine can cut a wide range of substrates from 80-600 micron, and widths between 510-1,000mm, into constant or variable lengths, to register - and ‘can respond to varying sheet lengths instantaneously, on the fly without the need to change tooling’, the company states.

This is achieved through an optical sensor which detects an approaching sheet; the cutting knife is then accelerated to web speed and positioned for ‘the perfect cut’.

Although initially launched into the digital market - with installations on a number of Agfa :Dotrix Modular machines worldwide – the company says the new sheeter can be run in-line with most web-fed equipment. It has a modular design allowing a wide range of options to be added in the future.
