Flint Group is the newest Silver Patron of the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), a non-profit organisation providing sustainability certification in the graphic communications industry.
Flint Group says it focuses on using materials with reduced environmental impact, minimising waste in ink systems, and developing sustainable inks. The company's FlexiStarTM BRC is the first solvent-based bio-renewable ink to receive NAPIM certification, and its BioCure F and UV flexo inks are also made of biorenewable resources.
Its EkoCure inks, which set with the aid of UV LED lamps instead of traditional mercury bulbs, are said to lower energy consumption and eliminate ozone production.
The company has also made significant strides within its own operations, creating a sustainable shipping process by reducing thickness of steel containers, eliminating unnecessary secondary packaging, and using recyclable and multi-use containers.
