Reifenhäuser has restructured its business around a holding company to allow individual units to concentrate on core activities. One of the moves is to pool R&D capabilities at the company’s Troisdorf technology centre to react quicker to customer demands.
The company predicts it could achieve large cost savings in the present business year and double digit growth in order volumes.
The main focus is on further developments in industrial packaging, especially three-layer lines for FFS heavy duty sacks and stretch wrapping film, as well as a new five-layer technology. Line components, new processes and raw material formulations have been tested and developed further under production conditions, the company says.
The performance of the three-layer blown film lines is expected to improve by 20-35 per cent with a new REI2cool cooling system in combination with optimized blown film die and low temperature screws. The company also plans to replace three-layer film commonly found on the market with five-layer film.
According to Reifenhäuser, the new five-layer technology reduces raw material costs, improves the mechanical properties of the film and closes the gap between high quality three and five-layer barrier film.
