Proflo achieves Esko HD Certification

15 August 2012

Esko has awarded its HD Flexo Certification to the high-end Proflo engraving process of UK-based Cheshire Anilox Technology. HD Flexo technology is designed to achieve sharper and high resolution imaging; its extended colour gamut is said to provide more vibrant and high contrast graphics, while HD plates deliver greater run lengths and print consistency.

The certification was based on the “exceptional print quality” achieved by Proflo, a high precision engraving specially designed to work with HD plate technology. It features an improved cell profile that is said to provide a more consistent ink laydown while also eliminating the chance of uncontrolled dot gain. According to Cheshire Anilox Technology, this high release cell offers up to 15% more ink than conventional engravings, “enabling the printer to produce high resolution images with outstanding depth of colour for greater shelf impact”.

The rigorous certification was awarded after a committee from Esko reviewed a variety of print samples from Cheshire Anilox Technology customers and flexo press manufacturers.
