Plate production doubled by MacDermid

21 January 2015

MacDermid Printing Solutions recently opened its new photopolymer plate production line in Morristown, Tennessee. Its addition almost doubles the company's current production capacity.

"Package printing is the fastest growing segment within the overall printing industry," says company vice president and general manager Timothy Gotsick. "And by bringing new technology to the package printing industry, MacDermid has achieved tremendous sales growth in the past several years. The next logical step for us was to expand our manufacturing capacity."

The new 100ft fully enclosed photopolymer plate production line is the first of its kind to be built in over a decade. It features state-of-the-art technology including a twinscrew extruder, tank farm, calender, inspection system, laser marking machines, and UV lighting/treatment, all integrated within a single control system.

New energy efficient features within the line will also help to reduce MacDermid's per unit greenhouse gas emissions.
