Masterbatches fight the fog

12 January 2011

Tosaf has developed ‘highly efficient’ anti-fog masterbatches for transparent polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP) food packaging films.

For PP, AF2329CP is said to prevent condensation of small water droplets at the film surface at high and low temperatures and to exhibit excellent anti-fog activity over a long period of time. Unlike many other masterbatches for PP applications, it provides films without any food contact limitations.

The AF5979PE and AF4953LL masterbatches are said to prevent formation of water droplets on complex multilayer PE films. Tosaf says they do not impact film properties that are essential for subsequent processing steps such as lamination, printing or sealing.

AF5979PE offers superior optical properties, while AF4953LL shows better anti-fogging activity under the challenging conditions associated with films made almost entirely of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE).
