Indonesian companies PT Pura Barutama and PT MBW Medicos won the best packaging award at the International Hologram Manufacturers Association's Excellence in Holography Awards 2007 in Hong Kong. Judges praised the combination of a metallized, reflective holographic stripe and a clear holographic laminate on the Vitamin C + Kollagen outer package box.
Pura Barutama specializes in security holograms and is part of the Pura Group, which also has interests in paper making, converting, printing and packaging. MBW Medicos designs creative packaging for the cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors.
Hazen Paper, Shorewood Packaging, Ivy Hill Packaging and NBC Universal Studios were commended in this category for the design of the boxes for the DVDs of Heroes and Barbie: Island Princess. These “showed a good appreciation of the way to integrate printed graphics with holographic patterns to boost consumer product pack design”.
