Holography industry awards open for new entries

25 June 2019

New entries are being welcomed for the 2019 Excellence in Holography Awards, which recognises advancement and technical achievement in commercial holography.

The awards are organised by industry trade body International Hologram Manufacturers Association (IHMA) and will be presented this year at the Holography Conference, which takes place on 14-15 November in Athens, Greece.

Attended by delegates from hologram suppliers, manufacturers and users around the world worldwide, the awards recognise outstanding achievement and mark those who have been at the forefront of the sector.

Specifically, they reflect innovative or commercially viable hologram products or techniques which have been introduced or launched in the last 12 months. Displays of winners’ and runners-up products will also feature at the event.

Any company or individual is eligible to enter - not just IHMA members - and the award categories cover innovations for the best in Holographic Technology, Origination, Display or Emerging Technology Applications, Applied Security, and Decorative/Packaging Products.

The closing date for applications will be 23 August 2019 and covers commercial projects produced after 1 August 2017.

A panel of sector experts, which will include a representative of the IHMA and two invited independent judges (an authentication specialist and a promotion or design expert) will judge this year’s entries.

The annual Brian Monaghan Award for Business Innovation, given at the discretion of the board, will also be presented in recognition of outstanding industry achievement and contribution.

Dr Paul Dunn, IHMA chairman, said: “The awards celebrate the very best in holographic achievement and the many remarkable innovations the industry pioneers every year

“Creativity, skill and design excellence will be to fore in this year’s crop of entries, reinforcing holography’s continued success and growth as one of the most effective, versatile and cost-effective authentication devices and retail packaging enhancements.”
