Giving cartons an edge

16 June 2005

A new generation of EcoEdge cutter carton machines is now available from Carton Edge Systems. Manufactured in Germany by Heiber & Schroder, it features a new Standard EcoEdge/S machine that automatically applies cutting edges to film, foil and paper kitchen dispensing cartons at 6-8,000/hour. It joins the high speed EcoEdge/HS machine that runs at 12-14,000cartons/hour, and the hand-fed HF unit for smaller throughputs.

Heiber & Schroder has joined existing supplier Bradman Lake to produce and market the new machines.

Both automatic machines have been substantially redesigned to improve productivity. Change-over times are reduced and makeready is much simplified, states Carton Edge. A new gluing system permit, for the first time, pre-glued and unglued material to be used on the same machine. Both machines can handle cartonboard or fine flute corrugated materials.

A variety of EcoEdge cutter blades in metal, APET plastics and special paper are produced for different materials and international markets. Conventional skipped tooth cutters work with most materials and multi tooth Scalene edge profiles are said to give a cleaner cut with thin cling films. A new Chevron profile popular in Far Eastern markets with higher teeth in the middle of the blade has been added to the range.
