From January 1st 2020, a unique formula identifier (UFI) will be a mandatory requirement on the label of all products containing hazardous mixtures. The 16-character alphanumeric code is intended to help Poison Centres to precisely identify the chemicals they contain and provide adequate medical advice.
The UFI code along, with other instructions and safety symbols, must be placed and be clearly visible for the labels to be compliant. Standard marking systems that use Inkjet printers are prone to printing errors due to inkjet heads blocking, misfiring and environment conditions such as dust. This can cause randomly occurring print defects such as incomplete UFI codes, unreadable barcodes, missing text or symbols during label printing.
These errors must be identified and rectified quickly to be fully compliant and to save on waste, time and money.
Lake Image offers a one vendor solution for all your label printing inspection needs, ensuring that both print quality and the essential variable data on labels is readable, correct and verified.
