Canadian board manufacturer Cascades is to invest $5 mn to streamline its Norampac plant in Kingsey Falls, which manufactures linerboard made from 100 per cent recycled fibres. Initially, the project will expand the building to replace the winder and provide additional space for future investments.
The plant currently has an annual production capacity of 90,000 tonnes; at the end of the new project, whose subsequent phases are intended for 2010 and 2011, it will exceed 125,000 tonnes/year.
In 2008, more than $12 mn was invested in the seven production units in Kingsey Falls.
