B&S Printing Gains On-Ramp to New Markets with Linoprint CV from Heidelberg
B&S Printing is the first U.S. installation of a Linoprint CV digital press with a fifth unit for clear or white toner, new vacuum-fed paper trays able to accommodate paper up to 27.5" in length, and a booklet finisher.
The Linoprint CV is the company's third digital press, accounting for 50 percent more capacity available to its growing digital business. The new digital press replaces another manufacturer's device that had developed significant "print quality issues," according to plant manager Tim Brock. In contrast, the Linoprint CV exhibits stable color, razor-sharp, high-resolution images, and outstanding print quality. Other impressive features include a large color scale and a low melting point. This makes it possible to print on a wide range of materials, such as heat-sensitive plastics, with an image and color quality close to that achieved in offset.
"While we chose the Linoprint CV primarily for the larger sheet size and gloss capability, it also represents a huge improvement over our previous equipment in terms of quality, flexibility, and functionality," Brock said.
Thus equipped, the busy trade printer is proceeding to build a market among new and existing customers for applications well suited to CV's larger format size and fifth unit finishing options. In demand in these early days are 3-panel brochures and tent cards. The company performs a limited amount of variable data printing at present, but also expects to grow that competency over time.

This flexible all-rounder is the only press in its class to go one better than four-color printing and offer white as an additional high-opacity color or, alternatively, a full-area or spot coating with outstanding gloss characteristics. It is quick and easy to switch between the white and coating alternatives, ensuring flexible use of these two surface finishing options.
