AIMCAL posts agenda for R2R Conference/FlexPackCon
The Association of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL) has posted the agenda and registration materials for the AIMCAL R2R (roll-to-roll) Conference on the its website, www.aimcal.org. The meeting, formerly known as the Web Coating and Handling Conference, is held in conjunction with FlexPackCon and scheduled Oct. 15-18, 2017, at the Naples Grande Beach Resort in Naples, FL. More than 400 participants are expected.
The conference schedule, a joint effort by committees from AIMCAL and the Society of Plastics Engineers (Bethel, CT), features nearly 100 sessions organized in tracks focused on the latest advances in R2R technologies, plus networking receptions with tabletop exhibits and several optional events including pre-conference short courses.
“This conference always receives great reviews,” reports Danis J. Roy, president of AIMCAL, who also serves as vice president – Sales, Cast Film and Coating Systems at Davis-Standard (Fulton, NY). He adds, “Presentations are high quality, and networking opportunities are abundant. Everyone takes home information about new technology and best practices they can use right away to improve productivity and efficiency. In short, it’s a business- and career-building experience.”
Session topics include printed electronics, pouch packaging, web coating, sustainable solutions, ceramic/glass substrates, drives for web handling, rollers, measurement technology, new technology, barrier, materials advances, markets and market trends.
Pre-conference short courses include one full-day course on Slot Die Coating Technology and four half-day sessions: Wrinkling and Spreading; The Stand-up Pouch Seminar; Controlled Coating Process: Details Are Essential for a Quality Cost-Effective Product; and Extrusion 101. Other optional events include a Scramble Golf Tournament, Corn Hole Tournament and Dr. Bernard Henry Memorial 5k Fun Run/Walk.
A conference-based app, provided in conjunction with AIMCAL member, Midwest Engineered Systems (Waukesha, WI), provides updates, speaker bios, proceedings and other information for attendees. It is available from the App Store or Google Play.
