Kongskilde’s industrial division manufactures and supplies equipment and systems for the handling of process waste throughout the paper, plastics and packaging industries, to increase customers’ productivity and help them maintain a competitive edge.

All over the world Kongskilde solutions are resolving problems in the paper and packaging industries. Whether it is the conveying of edge trim from slitters/rewinders or paper skeletons from die cutters, Kongskilde offers a variety of custom-built solutions to meet the customer’s needs.

The company’s range of pneumatic conveying equipment can match the demand of today’s high speed manufacturing.

Kongskilde UK is part of the Danish Kongskilde Group, which was established 60 years ago. The Kongskilde Group now has subsidiaries in 14 countries across Europe, The Baltics, South Africa and North America.

Process waste handling

Companies invest heavily in state of the art process equipment in order to maintain a competitive edge but often overlook the need to efficiently handle the process waste generated by such equipment.

Kongskilde is widely regarded as having unrivalled expertise in the handling of process waste produced in the packaging and printing industries. This knowledge has been gained from the thousands of worldwide installations - 300 systems are installed annually. Our expertise has enabled us to simplify our solutions to a few basic concepts that can meet the majority of requirements.

One such concept uses Kongskilde’s patented in-line venture, which allows continuous trim to be conveyed to a waste collection area with speeds of 1,000m/min. Using the Kongskilde Multicutter unit, the volume of conveyed trim can be drastically reduced thus removing the need for a compactor.

Kongskilde can also efficiently handle and convey off-cuts generated in the production or converting of paper in the, printing and packaging industries.

Productivity

Kongskilde has worked with companies that have had bottlenecks in their production process caused by waste handling. These companies have seen that a Kongskilde waste conveying system can free up manpower and space in the production area and increase production rates. These benefits have meant that systems have paid for themselves in a very short amount of time.

The paper industry, in particular, generates a large amount of dust with each process. Using a vacuum conveying system alleviates this problem by carrying away the dust with the paper edge trim. Air conveying systems have low maintenance requirements.

Kongskilde offers turnkey projects and our largest one to date cost £1 million. To give some idea of the scale of the commission, the customer’s building could accommodate nine Boeing 747s. It entailed 14 blowers totalling 420kW designed to move 95,000m3/hour, and 5km of pipework, with the longest pipe run extending to 300m, and pipe diameters ranging between 80 and 1,000mm.

The project involved 51.8km of wiring, 11 control panels and 46 motors. In addition, we installed 80 kilometres of network cables. Highlighting its capabilities, the system had a maximum peak material capacity of 4.95kg/sec; load on baler peak of 17,820kg/hour at specific density of 22kg/m3; and material is baled at a speed of 1m3/4.5sec.

Control panels have the latest GSM modems so our support team can dial in to monitor the system performance and make any necessary software upgrades.

Under Kongskilde’s service plan, trained service engineers will carry out system performance checks and carry our routine maintenance at the customer’s convenience.

We also offer the services of Kongskilde Finance, which we believe is very competitive, with current options as low as 0% and a facility to buy now and to delay your payment start date. Kongskilde Finance is happy to discuss directly with customers which is the best option for them.

Kongskilde likes to work with customers as business partners offering them advice, sales and after sales support. We have found this to work well, with most customers coming back to us again when they have further need for waste extraction.
