Inplacsa installs first Compack 2

16 January 2007

Producing flexible packaging with flexo printing in up to eight colours, Inplacsa is one of Spain's leading suppliers in its sector. The Girona based company took delivery of its first Compack 2 duplex slitter from Proslit in November. The machine is used mainly for the production of laminated films such as PE, OPP and PET.

“We chose Proslit as the supplier for our new machinery due to its competitive price and quality of build - as well as for our long relationship of co-operation with the Comexi Group,” explains Ramon Simon, managing director of Inplacsa. “Proslit was not only capable of responding to our tight demands over the schedule, but had also taken note of the requirements of its customers to provide additional services and equipment for a reasonable price,” he confirms.

The type of production work carried out by the Spanish company is ideally suited to the Compack 2, which is designed to “increase the user's productivity to a much higher degree”. Standard features include a servo electric brake, shaftless unwinder, and a nip area to provide “excellent” control of the tension just before the slitting unit. There are also razor and shear slitting options, tension control in the rewind stand through the advanced ALTS system technology developed by Proslit, as well as laser core positioning, and automatic stop for diameter or length indicators.

High quality control during the whole production process was an important part of the design brief for Proslit's engineers when developing the Compack series. Tension control while slitting is another critical aspect, in addition to having expandable friction shafts to control the taper tension.

The Compack 2 offers web widths of 850, 1,350 and 1,650mm with maximum finished roll diameters of 610mm. The maximum master roll diameter possible is 1,000mm. Speeds of up to 500m/min can be achieved, according to the material being slit, while minimum slit widths are between 40 and 25mm.

Proslit was founded in 2004. The Comexi Group member delivered more than 35 machines in 2006, and claims to have more than 400 Compack installations worldwide. The company aims to become a leading supplier of slitting and rewinding machinery in the medium to high range for the converting and flexible packaging industries.
