Rexam recently installed five Davis-Standard Thermatic extruders at its plant in Union, Missouri, USA. Ranging in size from 50mm to 130mm, the extruders include screen changers, melt pumps and control systems. Rexam has purchased 15 Thermatic extruders over the past four years to increase production. They are used for manufacturing multilayer sheet for barrier containers for the shelf stable food market.
Said Mark Borzillo, production engineering manager at Rexam's Union facility: “Our goal is to run as many quality parts as possible within a 24 hour period, seven days a week, year round. Our Davis-Standard equipment has performed very well under these conditions.”
Advanced control technology supplied with the extruders enables Rexam to maintain stable operating conditions and simplifies troubleshooting and maintenance procedures, says Davis-Standard. It also provides flexibility in change-overs and improves change-over time.
