ELTIM starts off well into 2013

27 February 2013

When the new ELTIM was presented by Erhardt+Leimer at various trade shows last year, it attracted the attention of many visitors.

Originally developed by MeSys, the ELTIM solution allows a precise measurement of the individual layer thickness and basic weight with an accuracy of 0.5% to 0.2%. In combination with the proven ELSIS surface inspection system the new ELTIM promises a noticeable improvement in quality and profitability – especially for the converting, paper and film industries.

Only a few months later the ELTIM system has made its way into the market. Two new orders indicate that 2013 could be a very successful year for the E+ L/MeSys combination.

First ELTIM order in US market

At the end of January the E+L subsidiary in Duncan, South Carolina, received its first ELTIM order for the US market. The system will be integrated into a new line, coating PET film with a very expensive ceramic coating.

For the customer it is very critical that the correct amount of coating is applied. After a presentation he requested the OEM to order the ELTIM system.

Joe Kenney, technical sales manager at Erhardt+Leimer USA, is convinced that this is “the first of many orders for the ELTIM system.” During the last month the US E+L team had very positive responses to the presentation and demo with several proposals.

New order for humidity measurement in Italy

In Italy the ELTIM is already well established. Now E+L Italy received a major order from a leading manufacturer of adhesive tapes. The order was placed for two NIR scanners for the measurement of the residual humidity of paper at the exit of the dryer and after the release coating unit.

Originally designed for the measurement of the surface thickness and basic weight, this order shows that the ELTIM system can also be used in different applications and is able to fulfil specific customer requirements.

During the bidding Erhardt+Leimer had to face strong competition. According to John Adnan Gjonbibaj, Sales Engineer at E+L Italy, at the end the overall package was decisive: the simple and open structure of the system, the modularity and the fast follow-up to customer requests.

Both the US and the Italian order are very promising and will open the door for other projects. So 2013 could be a very successful year for the ELTIM system.
