Zip-Pak, an ITW company, has acquired Supreme Plastics Ltd, UK based manufacturer of zipper and slider systems for an undisclosed sum.
The deal, which closed last week includes Supreme's Whitby plant and the Murcia, Spain based subsidiary and reflects Zip-Pak's stated commitment to a global development of resealable packaging systems. It follows the April acquisition by the USA company of Pliant Corp's resealable zipper division, Alliant Reclosables.
The Supreme move will considerably increase European capacity for Zip-Pak, which opened a plant in Winschoten, Netherlands in 2004 to address European demand for zipper profile. In addition it provides a European product development base, extended product portfolio and technology.
Michael Burton has been named as general manager of European Operations, and will relocate from the USA to Northeast England.
The acquisition does not include the Supreme Plastics Group Flexibles business.
