Digital colour press specialist Xeikon and Prism, developer of MIS/ERP software products for the graphic arts industry, have entered into a joint referral partnership programme. Through the partnership, Xeikon will be able to offer Prism’s management information systems to key markets, including labels and packaging.
Through bi-directional, real-time communication between Xeikon’s X-800 digital front end and Prism’s MIS software, label converters will now be able to manage mission critical aspects of their business, such as job quoting and costing through production planning, inventory management, materials ordering, sales order processing and financial accounts.
As Prism’s systems can also be integrated with traditional printing technologies, label converters can extend relevant planning measurements to their entire production floor across all of their output devices.
The Xeikon 3300 press, which was unveiled at drupa 2008, is said to represent a quantum leap in label print quality, offering true 1,200 dpi at four bits per spot. With a top speed of 63 ft/min and a monthly duty cycle of 2.3mn ft, it is particularly suited for short to medium print runs and just-in-time jobs.
The Xeikon 3000 is the entry level counterpart of the 3300 model, for label converters who are eager to enter digital printing but do not need its high speed and productivity yet. It is also said to be an ideal press for label converters wanting to focus on niche applications such as paperboard packaging or textile transfer printing.
