Xeikon expands its CTP business

17 January 2012

Digital press specialist Xeikon has acquired the Flexolaser computer-to-plate (CTP) technology and business from RSD Technik and Flexolaser. It has also acquired the rights to the Thermoflex platesetter trademark from Eastman Kodak. All the parties agreed to keep confidential.

The acquisitions are in line with Xeikon’s segment strategy to introduce a new product line for its CTP business and to be a leading digital solutions provider in the flexo market. The Belgium-based company will be expanding its sales, marketing and service teams worldwide to further these objectives.

Wim Maes, CEO of Xeikon, states: “Our strategy is to build a strong position in the label and packaging markets by offering printing solutions and the related supplies. We have been manufacturing industry-leading digital label presses and CTP solutions for more than 15 years. With flexo CTP we will be able to further expand our customer base for both digital and flexo printing.”
