Workshop 06

21 June 2006

‘Think Smart, Think Profit!’ is the theme for the Workshop 06 event, aimed at printers “who are feeling the pressure of having to increase productivity whilst reducing costs in order to remain competitive”. The topic of survival will be top of the agenda at the three-day workshop at Komori UK's Leeds showroom in September and organizers Friedheim, Komori, Muller Martini and Print Finance promise show visitors “ways to survive the turbulent climate”.

As well as witnessing a range of prepress, press and finishing equipment in a live workshop environment, delegates will receive advice on reducing the cost of ownership.

Paul Coggins, managing director of Print Finance, says: "When printers are making an investment, they sometimes base their decision on only a few key facts such as price and suitability to existing work. Calculating the lifetime cost of the equipment is very important and should include productivity, manning implications, finance, and the impact upon other departments. Can the finishing equipment keep up with the new press? These questions are sometimes overlooked. At Workshop 06 experts will be on hand to discuss the financial implications of any investment."

Equipment will be producing live print jobs at the Komori' venue. A B1 10 colour Lithrone S1040 Perfector and five colour B2 Lithrone S529 will be on display to demonstrate how different suppliers' printing and finishing equipment can be integrated and the options available at every stage of the production process. Friedheim International will demonstrate a selection of finishing equipment, and Muller Martini will complete the bindery with its PrimaPlus with Stream Feeder for optimum efficiency. JDF prepress technology will complete the workflow.

Workshop 06 will run from September 26-28. Other companies exhibiting are Baldwin, Dupont, Fuji, Nordson, Paper Co, Screen, Technotrans, Tharstern and Weko.
