Windmöller & Hölscher to Host In-house EXPO in Lengerich June 10 and 11, 2015

There is more than a year to wait until the next round of trade shows in Düsseldorf begins with drupa, K and interpack. To fill the gap, Windmöller & Hölscher is hosting an in-house EXPO to showcase several new flexible packaging solutions. Under the banner "PACKAGING 4.0", intelligent, intuitive and integrated technologies will be shown. The EXPO at W&H will show the possibilities the 4th Industrial Revolution opens for the manufacturing of flexible packaging, with integration of production lines and technical data streams. W&H will respond to the Mega-Trends in the industry and will answer pressing questions about the rising prices of raw materials, scarce resources, price pressure and the challenge of finding qualified workers. As an industry leader in machinery for film extrusion, printing and converting, W&H is in a unique position to herald PACKAGING 4.0.

Highlights in extrusion will include 5 blown and cast film lines representing a snapshot of current tends in film production. They include:

  • AQUAREX producing an asymmetrical, water-cooled barrier film for pouches.
  • VAREX II presentations on three lines will show examples of completely different configurations for product innovation and cost reduction.
  1. One line will show the production of lamination film with resin changes driven by automation modules and wash-up program.
  2. Another VAREX II along with an inline MDO unit will show the production of breathable diaper film. The integrated P-MDO thickness profile control ensures uniform thickness of the stretched film.
  3. The third line will produce high barrier film as lidding for resealable food packaging
  • OPTIMEX will highlight two technical achievements. The first 5-layer line of this product range producing the first 5-layer film for stretch hoods showing that 5-layers offers more and costs less than customary film structures.
  • FILMEX will demonstrate the production of high-strength, thinner stretch film ("taut film") for economical and reliable load securing.

As a follow-up to the extrusion presentations will be printing demonstrations of three flexographic and one gravure printing press:

  • VISTAFLEX CL 8 will show the printing of diaper film produced on the VAREX II at speeds of 800 m/min with inline slitting. The highly effective EASY-CHECK C system automatically measures color quality during production operations.
  • MIRAFLEX CM 10 will show an example of printing with high ink coverage and massive drying to demonstrate that even energy-intensive jobs can be optimized using the „Energy Monitoring". In addition, new modules to improve print quality will be introduced.
  • MIRAFLEX S - The newest model in the MIRAFLEX family celebrates its public premiere. This compact press shows its high quality print for short production runs.
  • HELIOSTAR S demonstration focuses on the newly designed HELIOCONTROL ADVANCED sensor technology and demonstrates its register accuracy for both inks and coatings The press will run a thin packaging film printed at speeds of 500 m/min.

And finally W&H will show the process of turning the film to useable packaging in our Converting exhibits:

  • AD PLASTIC 2 - The valve bottomer for film valve sacks follows in the footsteps of its legendary predecessor, this time on the basis of innovative, adhesive free, hot air sealing.
  • POLYTEX - The tuber for film will show solutions for highly complex tube constructions with venting and embossing used for special applications.

With this diverse portfolio, a large number of manufacturers and converters of flexible packaging from around the world will attend the expo. Multi-lingual machine presentations are scheduled throughout the day in order to provide information to all attendees worldwide.
