Windmill acquires Commercial Label Products

23 December 2011

As part of its growth strategy in self-adhesive printed labels and plain labels, Windmill Tapes and Labels has acquired Commercial Label Products.

The merging of the two Cheshire converting businesses brings together Windmill’s expertise in medium to long run flexographic label printing, and CLP’s experience in short run label production using both digital and inkjet technology.

“The printed tape and label markets are very competitive and organic growth rates have been low over the last couple of years due to the challenging economic environment in which we operate,” said the company in a statement. “We felt that the returns on the acquisition would enable us to move forward more quickly.”

The company will now have printing capability on HP Indigo, Xeikon, Jetrion and Markandy presses along with plain label production on its in line Vectra slitter/rewinder.

“It gives us a unique opportunity of adding to our own printed label offering by introducing digital labels as well as inkjet and rotary letterpress,” the company said.
