Wider brushed film webs

14 September 2011

US producer of metallized, brushed films Brushfoil has completed a significant expansion to its plant in Guilford, Connecticut. The company has leased an additional 8,000ft² of space to accommodate a new brushing line that enables it to reduce lead times and produce films up to 1,828.8mm wide.

Details of the new machinery are not being disclosed, but Brushfoil says it will feature “the widest- machine of its kind and include a combination of next generation electronics, automation and versatility”.

Earlier this year, the company introduced two new brushed patterns - Cross-hatch and Tru-Stainless. The Tru-Stainless pattern closely mimics the appearance of real stainless steel, while Cross-hatch offers the result of the brush pattern going in both the horizontal and vertical directions.

Both of these new patterns are available with top coats for print-receptivity, fingerprint-proof, scuff, abrasion and scratch-resistance, anti-microbial and many others that can be tailored to meet surface demands.
