Wide range of capabilities

Versatility is the essence of TecScan’s new Series 5 range of ‘low cost’ print inspection systems, which offer features such as a real-time split screen ‘window in window’ that displays both images on the monitor simultaneously. The images can be shown vertically, displaying the stored reference image on the left side of the screen and the live image on the right, or horizontally showing the reference image in the top half of the screen and the live image in the bottom half.

An Automatic Constant Scan function provides continuous monitoring of the repeat at specific positions in web running direction (Y-direction) and across the web (X-direction). A Label Check facility allows the operator to set up the system to inspect the same position on each label around the print repeat length in either Manual or Auto-Increment mode. Quick Zoom will define frequently used magnification settings which can be recalled at any time.

The Pre-programmable Scan mode is used for inspecting different areas of interest on the web. The camera can be pre-programmed to move automatically between from two to 20 positions, depending on operator requirements. The camera is programmable in the X-direction and the Y-direction. Selected images can be stored for future reference.

The system uses a 17in TFT monitor and various types of strobes can be integrated for viewing difficult substrates. An optional second camera can be supplied for viewing the back side of the web, if required.

Tecscan has more than 4,000 systems operating worldwide and claims its dedicated system is more user friendly and reliable than some of the computer based systems currently on the market, as well as being suitable for narrow web, flexo and gravure applications.

The company also recently made two personnel appointments. Antonio Farace has joined as electronics systems engineer and Paul Lear has taken on the role of technical sales manager.
