Way to go

UK slitter rewinder supplier Double R Consol says its philosophy is: “If you can buy a machine anywhere, then we need to have a little extra to offer - our experience, knowledge and willingness to consider a completely different approach to what would be the norm”.

As the actual products to be slit and rewound are best understood by the customer, working closely with them will help to achieve the best results. “Once you have reached the point where you understand the product and how it behaves, you can apply this to a specific web path design, or a specific method of slitting to achieve the exacting width tolerances required. The same applies to the tolerances on rewound core location and the amount of rewound edge profile variation.”

A typical result of this methodology is the company’s DC-600 slitter. It features shaftless unwind, a 1,600 mm web width, digital knife setting and a slitting width tolerance of within 0.5 mm. The specification also includes traverse trim spool winding, laser core alignment and differential rewinding. The machine will handle rewind cores of 76, 152 and 254 mm, with rewind roll edgeS to within 0.5 mm and rewind diameter of 600 mm.
