Waterjet cutting – no chance against knives

22 January 2004

A French converter of synthetic fleece has switched from waterjet cutting to conventional slitting technology. Fleece of 10-100g/m² is given 24 cuts at a slitting width of 75mm, using the Dienes Module IV circular knife positioning system, equipped with PSGSDF knifeholders. The web speed is 600m/min and the positioning accuracy of within 0.15mm would not be achievable with waterjet cutting. The cutting quality has also been improved, the company states.
