Waterborne matte coating resists scuffs

6 August 2010

Whether converters are looking to increase a product’s shelf appeal or simply increase scuff resistance, Mica Corp says its T-605-C waterborne matte coating for films can ‘take a product packaging to a new level’. The coating can be applied by most typical printing and coating operations, the company adds.

The product is a single-pass, 2-part aqueous matte coating that can be used on most plastics films and withstand heat seal temperatures up to 150°C. When properly applied, it is said to be scuff resistant, heat resistant (above 121°C) and has a 60 degree gloss of about 10 units.
