Waitrose says cheese with Berkshire Labels

24 January 2012

In the UK, BRC-accredited Berkshire Labels has printed more than 500,000 ‘peel back’ labels for Waitrose’s newly-launched Top Tier range of more than 40 different English and European cheeses.

Printed in up to seven colours, the labels incorporate a gold-foiled peel back coupon containing provenance information specific to each cheese within the Top Tier range. They were printed in individual volumes from 5,000-50,000, on a Mark Andy LP3000 combination UV flexo press at Berkshire’s Hungerford site.

Berkshire managing director Paul Roscoe reveals: “The tactile paper chosen by Waitrose created a challenge to incorporate a provenance tag, reverse printing and also gold coldfoil, but after spending time with the Waitrose design team a unique solution was created”.
