VSOP press built for board

10 February 2005

Drent Goebel recently demonstrated a VSOP offset press designed for printing thick board. Said to be the second of this type sold to "the world's biggest manufacturer of liquid packaging", the 1,120mm web width machine uses Variable Sleeve Offset Printing technology, which makes variable print lengths possible in offset.

The demonstrations showed multiple job changes including a change in repeat length. All changes were performed under 20min and even the larger sleeves were handled without any extra tools like cranes or trolleys. Two jobs were printed on 350g board supplied by Mayr Melnhof and Cascade. Both types of board were handled perfectly by the press, according to Rob Meij, product manager at Drent Goebel.

"Because most of board converters work with different types of board it is very important that our machine can work with all of them", he explains.

Visitors to the demonstration also saw a different VSOP 1120 press still under construction, which will be used to print shrink sleeve packaging.
