Visit exhibitions without leaving your desk

5 December 2001

Packaging will be the first industry to feature in internet based alternative to traditional exhibitions which has been launched as www.europaexpo.com.

The site is said to offer "the world's first pan-European, on-line exhibition centre, using proprietary software to create a fully functional virtual reality show, with everything from exhibition stands to press rooms to innovation halls. A special feature is a "virtual agent" – a specialized search engine – that will "attend" the exhibition and identify companies offering products and services specified by the visitor.

The site is available in Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish languages.

"This is truly the next generation of trade exhibitions," enthuses www.europaexpo.com director Andy Molnar. "Now business people can attend the most exciting trade events in the world without leaving their offices. There is no huge stand construction expense, no travel expenses or entry fees. One doesn't have to miss days or even weeks of regular work responsibilities to participate. For exhibitors, there is nothing to dispose of once the show is over. All that is required is a personal computer and internet access to experience the latest products and services the world has to offer."

The new site's first exhibition will be E-Pak – a pan-European packaging exhibition scheduled for September 2-20, 2002. Organizer Expo-VR estimates that over 1,500 packaging companies will particpate.
