US based VIPColor Technologies will introduce its VP485 on-demand inkjet label printer to the German packaging market at Verpackung Nord, Hamburg, next month (January 29-30, Hall 29, booth C32A). The VP485 enables fast desktop printing from the roll in widths from 51-216 mm at up to 101.6 mm/sec. Unlike many units currently available, it has large separate ink tanks. Each colour can be changed discretely and is operated in conjunction with long-life printheads. This greatly reduces the frequency of replacements as well as the waste and costs associated with tri-colour ink cartridges.
