Victrex Technology Center in the UK has installed its first atmospheric plasma surface treating system – Enercon’s Plasma3 surface treater – with the aim of enabling downstream converting of its high performance APTIV film, made from Victrex Peek polymer.
Plasma3 has the ability to modify surfaces unresponsive to traditional treatment methods whilst eliminating backside treatment, it is claimed. The system produces uniform plasma treatment that imparts long-lasting and significantly enhanced wettability, printability, and adhesion properties to the surface. Most materials will derive benefits from the Plasma3 system, including speciality films, polymers, foams, wovens, nonwovens, fibres, metals, and powders requiring stringent surface specifications.
