UV cure inkjet: ANI and Xennia alliance

14 September 2004

ANI Printing Inks and Xennia Technology have formed a strategic partnership to supply UV cure inkjet inks for the labels and packaging industry. Under the arrangement a range of tailored UV curing inks for web and flatbed inkjet applications is to be offered as well as turnkey UV cure solutions, including customized printing systems and inks.

Product design and development will be conducted at Xennia by its team of inkjet technologists in close co-operation with the experts on UV ink technology at ANI. Manufacturing at a range of scales will be provided by ANI, together with global distribution and customer service.

Inkjet printing technology has progressed to the stage where it can now match the demanding quality and performance requirements of many label and packaging applications, whilst bringing benefits of in-line customization, personalization and design flexibility, economic short print runs and reduced inventories, says the company. The concept of short shelf-life packaging linked to local cultural or sporting events, or of daily newspaper headlines on the breakfast milk carton, is now showing practical propositions.

UV cure inkjet inks are the preferred technology for many new packaging applications due to their versatility, speed of cure, excellent colour range and durability, it believes.
