UPM Raflatac raises RFID tag capacity

13 March 2007

UPM Raflatac has doubled the RFID tag and inlay production capacity at its Jyväskylä production plant in Finland, to meet growing demand for both HF and UHF products. The Jyväskylä operation has moved to new premises in the same area.

"Our sales have developed positively over the past two years," says Christer Härkönen, senior vice president, RFID. “To support growing customer demand, we've decided to increase our production capacity in Finland. With twice the capacity we'll be able to secure our leading position in the market.”

In addition to production in Finland, the company has an RFID production plant in North Carolina, USA. Both production plants serve RFID markets globally.

UPM Raflatac has also opened a labelstock factory next to the UPM paper mill in Changshu, China. It will supply paper and film materials for standard and special applications.
