Universal co-ex film promises savings

29 October 2010

A new low gauge universal film for self-adhesive labelling applications has been jointly developed by the Flexible Packaging Division of Bemis and Mactac, a member of the Bemis Group.

This U Coex co-extruded PE-PP film is said to combine the squeezability of a PE film and the high level of clarity and a good rigidity for ease of application provided by PP.

The 55 micron U Coex also helps the environment by allowing printers to print 25% more labels than an 85 micron PE film on a roll of the same diameter. For a roll of the same size, printers and end-users will also reduce their waste by up to 25%/m2. Roll weight is also 25% less than a standard PE film.

Suitable for labels for personal care, cosmetics, detergents, home care, pharmaceuticals and food products, U Coex film is offered in clear and white versions. It is available coated with MP 128 N acrylic emulsion adhesive and a Mactac TC 1 top coat ‘for easy printability’.
