Understanding the standards

2 August 2002

The Packaging Federation in association with the British Retail Consortium intends to raise the awareness on the food packaging standards soon to be adopted by most of the major grocery retailers in the UK.

The Standards were a joint collaborative effort between the Institute of Packaging and the BRC, and launched last year (see November issue, page 5).

Says PF chief executive Ian Dent: "The standards are an important issue to our members supplying the grocery trade. In collaboration with the BRC, we are to host a workshop in September to ensure awareness of the standards is up to speed and allow for an open dialogue on areas and issues which give rise for concern."

The BRC is also organizing a series of one-day regional training courses on the standards. Details of these course can be found on both the PF and BRC websites: www.brc.org.uk and www.packagingfedn.co.uk
