Motan Colortronic believes its new Luxor A model is "probably the most advanced energy saving dehumidified dryer on the market".
Among the advantages offered by the Luxor A are twin-bed absorption chambers which are thermally insulated from each other so there is no transfer of heat from a hot to a cold bed as with a wheel-type unit. Unlike wheel units, the beds are fixed in position, and therefore are ensured to be air-tight.
In addition, states Motan, the twin-bed technology does not have wear and tear from continually moving beds or divided chambers so no air leakages are incurred. It is said to have typically 50-100 times the desiccant volume of wheel dryers, reducing regeneration intervals and therefore saving energy.
Quick, simple and low cost exchange of the absorption media is possible - eliminating costly and time consuming exchange of a complete absorption wheel and seals. As the twin-bed system is fixed, costly time and expense of lubricating rotor drive chains or tensioning of a drive belt are also eliminated.
Unlike typical wheel-type dryers, the manufacturer adds, no damage can be incurred to seals or such moving parts, as these are totally eliminated.
The Luxor A dryer also incorporates the latest VSD blower and airflow control, "saving vast amounts of energy" as the system can, without operator input, cope with varied material throughputs, moisture content and ambient conditions.
