Turks target packaging excellence

3 January 2012

Soon after commissioning a new KBA Rapida 105 with UV capability for printing plastics and film, Coloristakademi scooped a silver star at the Turkish Packaging Awards 2011.

The Istanbul-based company is focused on developing quality, inline-coated packaging for the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. It is now looking to win foreign customers with its quality excellence, which is why the new Rapida 105 was configured with an array of features.

Coloristakademi founder Yusuf Uygun says: “The new 6-colour coater press has a special 740 x 1,050mm format. It has really moved us forward. We print an average of 50,000 sheets per job, but can handle run lengths of 300,000 sheets. We can print lightweight stock as immaculately as film, plastics and board weighing 400-600g/m2.”

He continues: “The press will enable us to develop new products and tap new foreign markets. We are looking to raise our export level from the current 10-15% to 50% and have every chance of succeeding.”
