A leading supplier of paper based and filmic pressure sensitive labelstock recently invested in a custom designed Vetaphone Corona-Plus treater for its largest coating line in North Carolina. According to Vetaphone sales manager Jan Eisby, "the corona unit is extraordinarily fast and efficient. "It incorporates the biggest and fastest innovations within Corona-Plus equipment with the latest technology and is designed for production speeds of up to 2,000 m/min."
The specification was to produce a high speed treater for wide web, designed to cope with not only the usual type of paper and films, but also special products such as metallized BOPP and newly developed metallized foils. It should be able to solve known problems such as pinholes in the metallized surface and burn down of the metallized layer in the border of the foil. In addition, the treatment should guarantee a constant, high dyne level with minimum decay at very high production speeds.
"Vetaphone mainly supplies from a standard range of Corona-Plus stock equipment, but does also from time to time develop customer defined solutions like this project," says Jan Eisby. "Designed for the highest reliability based on a heavy duty construction and equipped with the Quick Change system for easy film thread-up and maintenance, it does not vary from our standard range of equipment."
Installation and start-up went smoothly and the new treater is now running with full load as planned. Vetaphone has now received a further five orders from the same customer, for locations in Europe and Asia.
