24 August 2009

Specialist supplier plastics bag machinery, pouch making equipment and reclosable packaging Hudson-Sharp Machinery, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Brussels, Belgium, has been acquired by US packaging equipment manufacturer Thiele Technologies. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Larry Smith, president and CEO of Thiele Technologies, says: “The acquisition combines Hudson-Sharp’s market leading technology and large customer base with the stability and balance of our product lines. The opportunities for further growth through the sharing of best practices and leading technologies are very exciting.”

Hudson-Sharp’s converting equipment vertically integrates with Thiele’s bag weighing, bag filling and bag palletizing systems to create a single competitive source of complete bagging systems.

Thiele Technologies is a division of the Barry-Wehmiller group, for whom Hudson-Sharp is the 43rd acquisition since 1987. It now has more than 50 operations worldwide.
