Tension control is Rock Steady

27 September 2005

Nexen's new RSTC1000 Rock Steady Tension Control features an adaptive control algorithm, easy set-up and tuning over a USB connection, and a modular design that allows users to purchase only needed components.

The adaptive control algorithm is used to adjust internal gain values, said to result in a simple system exceeding the performances of more complicated alternatives that rely on many external sensors and signals. It is tuned only once and operators need not worry about re-tuning because stable control is said to be provided over a wide range of materials.

The RSTC1000 supports Modbus RTU communications for networking with HMIs and PLCs. For machines without HMI, the RSTC Operator Panel (ROP) is a simple compact station for making adjustments to the new controller. The ROP has a multi line alphanumeric display with no menus or cryptic messages. Both units are CE compliant.

Suitable for wind, unwind or mid process tension control on web processing machinery, the RSTC controls the torque output of brakes, clutches, and AC or DC drives.
