Technotrans ship automated ink.lines

7 September 2006

In the UK, technotrans is now shipping the automated ink.line cartridge inking system shown in prototype at IPEX 2006. This version enables the lid of the ink cartridge system to be opened at the push of a button. The 2kg cartridge can then be removed and replaced quickly and easily with minimal operator intervention, saving time and reducing wear, according to the company.

Operations director Peter Benton says: “ink.line has enjoyed enormous success, with 11,000 systems sold worldwide since its launch in 1998. It is quicker, cleaner and has quality benefits over traditional inking methods. The UK is one of the largest ink.line markets because it was the first to accept ink cartridges and one of the most enthusiastic adopters of long perfectors where automation of processes like inking is vital.

“The new automated version of ink.line will be welcomed not only by press manufacturers but also by end users. The system can be retrofitted to presses in the field and will mark another step forward in pressroom efficiency.”

The automated ink.lines are now being supplied to all technotrans’ OEM press manufacturing customers and the first two into the UK will be on Komori presses.
