TCL takes flexo forward

29 August 2007

UK based manufacturer of flexible packaging films for the food industry TCL Packaging has developed a flexo print process it says will provide top quality print on packaging films at lower cost. The Fotoflex process is claimed to offer “gravure like” print quality without the expense of high origination costs and the need for long runs to achieve economics.

Based on only eight colours, but said to produce excellent results for up to 10 colour designs, the new process is claimed to be perfect for complex designs, vignettes, sharp detail and high resolution photography. Just like gravure, the company states, there is an added depth of colour and a life like density, clarity and lustre to the finished films.

TCL managing director Tim Crow comments “Fotoflex was developed in response to customer demands to reduce print cost and achieve better economics on shorter runs and promotions without compromising print quality. We have some examples of printed film that compare results from conventional print and the Fotoflex process – we will be happy to send these to prospective customers, so they can see the excellent results first hand”.
