Tactile coating

8 May 2006

New from Shorewood Packaging is a special tactile coating technique to give a value added decorative effect on packaging. Known as Nitty Gritty, it is created by adding particles to a UV coating base through a silkscreen printing process. The coating mix can be opaque or transparent, allowing any colour, graphic or text printed beneath to be visible. A spot application can be overprinted in register to a printed image to create a slightly raised and rough textured surface.

“We can create a specific look with texture to match the product,” says Greg Chup, product development manager. “This coating can be used with any design and on any type of package. The creative possibilities are endless.”
