T-Flute takes centre stage

16 November 2010

New from Smurfit Kappa, T-Flute is a high quality microflute board, manufactured using a patented process said to offer handling characteristics similar to a traditional cartonboard, but with significant benefits. It is offered as a high quality alternative for manufacturers at a time when many sectors are experiencing worldwide shortages of traditional cartonboards.

One of the slimmest caliper microflutes produced by Smurfit Kappa Sheetfeeding, the new board is said to deliver a super lightweighting opportunity. It is FSC accredited and 100% recyclable, machine erectable and can be printed offset and flexo, as well as foil blocking, embossing and debossing.

T-Flute is said to be unique in that it offers designers the ability to incorporate ‘curvable’ properties so that a carton no longer has to have regular geometry but can be a combination of carton and tube while delivering a ‘litho-quality’ print finish and the protective qualities of a cartonboard in a much lighter weight product.
