Superior print quality: Onlineprinters again PSO certified with outstanding results Online printing company guarantees colour fidelity of printed products for tenth year straight

The certification seal ProcessStandard Offset (PSO) guarantees stability and security in the printing process and therefore provides the foundation for the high quality standard of printed products. The online print shop Onlineprinters has been once again awarded PSO certification by the Swiss institute Ugra.

"Our prints must meet our customers' quality demands and we therefore work only in accordance with the highest production standards. The most recent PSO test result is an outstanding 97 out of 100 maximum points. It makes us extremely proud", said Thomas Emmer, Print Control Specialist and Standardisation Representative at Onlineprinters. "We have now been PSO-certified ten years in a row and continue to train our staff rigorously so that we always achieve the best print results."

PSO Examination Content

More than the mere measurement of test sheets according to the ISO standard 12647-2 at the Swiss Ugra laboratories, a PSO audit also involves the complete examination of the organisation of a print shop in compliance with ProcessStandard Offset: from data reception, to prepress data transmission, digital proofing, the standard illumination conditions during the visual inspection, the printing plate production and the printing process. Even the customer service staff is tested to ensure that questions about the ProcessStandard Offset can be answered competently. With regards to the printed image, the ISO standard provides guidelines on how the specific appearance of the CMYK colour space should be measured on different substrates and under particular lighting conditions.

Independent Verification & Validation

The extensive review process for PSO certification is carried out by Ugra, the Swiss Centre of Competence for Media and Printing Technology. The aim of the non-profit institution, which was founded in 1952, is to test and improve the quality of print products. The association inspects, among others, banknote papers and bills for national banks worldwide. "The goal of the PSO certification is to review the standardisation of the industrial process for compliance with tight production tolerances, for the reproducibility of printing results in reprints and last-minute small print runs. All this ensures top quality for the customer. Online printing is, if you will, a sort of supreme discipline because of the gang-run technique used to print multiple designs and print jobs onto one sheet", according to Audit Manager Guy Flüeli, Head of the Ugra PSO Certification. He adds: "The standardisation and controlling of all process is the key to success: without a strictly standardised data preparation, gang-run printing would become an almost impossible task. Although the print data from each customer is different, each printing plate has to be perfect."

Permanent Quality Assurance

In addition to the biennial tests, Onlineprinters is audited on a quarterly basis for the permanent quality assurance of print products by independent print quality assurance expert Thomas M. Schnitzler. Schnitzler is Managing Director of CtP & Print Quality Control and former researcher of the Fogra Graphic Technology Research Association. "Onlineprinters is, among other things, very well positioned in staff training, which is essential for the quality implementation of the wide range of print products. It remains crucial that testing between audits is carried out regularly, since even the latest printing machines are likely to wear out and must be continuously maintained. The quarterly Print Quality Assurance Concept (DQS) performed by CtP & Print Quality Control proved successful and ensured a high, reproducible colour quality for its customers according to the ISO 12647 printing standard. This is particularly impressive for a large printing company, such as Onlineprinters" says Schnitzler.

Certified Secure

When it comes to security and privacy, Onlineprinters relies on independent certification programmes, such as the TÜV Süd s@fershoppingsystem and the EHI Euro Label, which guarantee that customers have a safe and reliable online shopping experience. Moreover, with the Trusted Shops seal, Onlineprinters has committed itself to meeting the highest requirements in the areas of data security and delivery.
