Stork modules extend Codimag into screen printing

4 July 2003

Stork Prints is providing a semi rotary screen printing unit to be incorporated into French manufacturer Codimag's VIVA 340 letterpress and waterless offset presses for label conversion.

Stork's unit is said to allow registration accuracy better than 0.1mm and productivity – in most cases - of up to 50m/min (12,000 prints/hour) in a semi rotary environment, without any compromise in print quality and screen stability. The benefit of an intermittent press is that the printed image no longer determines the size of the printing cylinder, so there is no need to change screens or cylinder sizes for each job. This saves tooling and change-over costs.

Comments Raymond Wiggers, sales manager at Stork Prints: "Inclusion of the unit will enable Codimag users to offer label solutions that incorporate unique screen printing capabilities such as ink and varnish lay-downs, without wastage, up to 300 micron thickness. Such label converters can compete in a wider number of added value markets."
